We grabbed some extremely figured curly maple for the frame, but the raised panels are going to be made out of quilted curly maple. the differences are subtle but they are obvious once you see it in person.
This is the curly maple we are going to use for the frame of the raised panels. Note the stripes running up and down in a tight ridged pattern.
Different Angle
Quilted Maple has less of a stripey look and more like, as my father put it, a quilt that's all bunched up. There is less of a distinctive pattern. Its quite a sight to look at:
