I think we have decided on the components for the Humidor, we are going to go to with Curly Maple in the raised panel design, the center of the raised panels will be done in a blue dye. My father said the color is Caribbean blue:

Then we will do the frame of the rails in a natural color. Although I would like to know what color this is:




I asked Eddie DeJong about it but he hasn't gotten back to me, I wonder if he blocked my twitter account because I've been asking him so many questions... but closed mouths don't get feed ;)

The size will be approximately 24"x12"x9". that should give us two feed across, one foot deep and then the panels can be 2' for each rail and 2' of each panel in hight leaving an inch for the legs to come down. I think that will look pretty good.

My father wants to make something out of Curly(tiger) Maple, I was thinking something along the lines of figured Walnut. We have some Waterfall Bubinga as well so maybe something pretty will materialize ;)

I had a nice conversation with Eddie DeJong from @Vanderburgh over twitter last night and he was so awesome as to answer some questions I had about the construction. He also wants pictures when we are finished. How cool is that???

For the base I am going to use some Blue Pearl granite. Mostly because I have a thing for the color blue... and its awesome looking. Observe:

Just wanted to get the ball rolling. Thank you @CigarsThomas for telling me to set this blog up. This is a blog to document the building of a family heirloom humidor by my father and I. I got the idea from the beautiful humidors at www.vanderburghhumidors.com. I can not afford one of Eddie's works of art, so I enlisted my father and all his woodworking skills to make an awesome humidor that I can pass down to my son and grandson/daughter and so on.
